Martyn has been a client since 2013. He came to Lifeworks after his wife Linda came to see us and it was suggested that he should be referred for a diagnosis. Due to family complications he is unlikely to get an official diagnosis however he has received help from Lifeworks for many aspects of his Life. ‘They are understanding with how I am. Helped me understand myself and why I do things the way I do. Made me feel more confident and given me a social life with people who are understanding and not as judgemental. They have also helped me with filling forms in for PIPS.’ Martyn volunteers for Lifeworks by running a Cosplay group (costume making for events) and the Fundraising group. He contributes ideas for future groups at Lifeworks and organises fundraising events outside of Lifeworks. He recently organised a fundraising event at the Minicon at Manuflux and dressed in costume while collecting money for Lifeworks.

Tahir has been with Lifeworks Staffordshire since February 2015 and since received a diagnosis. ‘Coming to Lifeworks is a way of meeting other people in the same situation. It’s a place I can go where people don’t judge. I feel my life has changed for the better and now I have a purpose. Tahir also volunteers in the office where he inputs data and updates records. He has also participated during Lifeworks training sessions which has allowed the general public a greater understanding of the autistic spectrum
